The DataMatrix, or coding system in 2D, already exists for a while. However, it is now bringing back to life, thanks to new mobile technologies.

This coding system, also known as QR-Code, is now frequently decrypted by smartphones. Many free applications (e.g iPhone applications) can now read these codes.

Some websites allow you to generate your own Business Card according to the same rule. On the website BeeTagg Multicode Generator, for example, you can easily encode your card. It will then allowy all application’s owners (and the number of existing applications is quite impressive!).

This allows you to dematerialize your card, plus  you are saving the printing costs, which can be quite expensive. Beyond this saving, you give to yourself the opportunity to reach a larger audience. No need to distribute a small card which will often end up forgotten in a pocket; your interlocutors just scan your card and the data contained therein are automatically registered in their phone.
